Butterflies

Over spring break, I took the kids to the Seattle Pacific Science Center for some exploration. We visited the exhibits, went to a laser dome show and visited the butterfly house. There is something magical about stepping into the hot humid butterfly house on a cold gray Seattle day to see hundreds of beautiful butterflies flying about. I took a numerous photographs of butterflies feeling inspired to create some butterfly art. Fast forward to a couple nights ago. The big kid was off to prom, the house was quiet as the hour grew late. I pulled out my water colors and started fooling around with dropping colors together wet on wet into the shape of butterfly wings. Today, I took those watercolor wings, added some details with paint pens and voila! Butterflies emerged.
