Whew! I’ve been trying to get to this post for the last two days! We’ve been busy with contractors and working on our basement. Night before last I went to home depot then started to pour concrete at 10pm. Yes you read that correctly, started at 10. Then last night it was another trip to Home Depot and up working late. Oh well that’s life sometimes.
So without further ado….
Last Sunday (8/19) I participated in the Seattle Danskin Triathlon. I had a great time. It’s a sprint tri, so all of the distances are quite manageable: 1/2 mile swim, 12 mile bike and 3 mile run. I had done the Danskin 2 years ago on a bit of a whim. This year I knew what I was getting into and had signed up hoping it would help motivate me into loosing the last of the baby weight. Well not so much. I was so incredibly under trained this time around.I am not the sporty kind of girl, I’m not a big one for exercise. I like to be active, I like to play games, I like to participate but I hate to climb on a tread mill or go for a run just for the heck of it. I simply wanted to finish without hurting myself. Which I did but I also had fun. The atmosphere is super fun and supportive. I met some really nice women and saw some inspiring women. Women in their 70-80’s, women who easily weighed 400+lbs, women who had won their fight with Cancer but only had one breast left to show for it and everything else in-between. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was for me despite how out of shape I feel. I wasn’t the fastest, not by far but at the end I wasn’t totally wiped out either. So if you’ve never done a major event I encourage you to give it a try you just might love it.
PS. Still trying to finish up that Robot game and today while playing with our son I had the BEST idea, it has to do with Angry Birds and my sons building blocks. Going to try and make him a set for his birthday and maybe even add it to my shop. More to come on that idea….
